Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Markdown table?

A Markdown table is a plain-text way to represent tabular data using pipes (|) and dashes (-). It renders as a formatted table on GitHub, GitLab, Notion, Obsidian, and most documentation platforms.

Is my data safe?

Yes. All conversion happens entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded to any server. We literally cannot see your data.

What file formats are supported?

Currently .xlsx and .xls (Excel), .csv (comma-separated values), and .docx (Word documents with tables).

Can I convert multiple sheets?

Yes. When you upload an Excel file with multiple sheets, each sheet is converted and labelled as a separate section in the output.

Why use Markdown tables instead of HTML or Excel?

Markdown tables are readable as plain text, version-control friendly (great for Git), and render beautifully on GitHub README files, wikis, and documentation sites.

Is there a file size limit?

There's no artificial limit. Processing is bounded only by your browser's memory. Files up to ~50 MB work well in practice.

Can I edit the converted Markdown?

Yes. After conversion, click the Edit button on the output panel. Click any line to fix text directly, or check multiple lines and apply headings, bold, italic and more in one go. Ctrl+Z undoes any change.

What if the conversion result has errors or misread text?

Use the built-in Markdown editor to correct mistakes without re-uploading. Click any line to edit inline, or select multiple lines with checkboxes to batch-apply formatting changes in one click.
